This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Our voices for a long time were considered unimportant and unnecessary but as time has passed we as women are now considered one of the most important voting demographics. As we approach November 3, 2020, it is imperative we as women make sure our voices are heard this election and we exercise our right to vote. Our nation has experienced its fair share of challenges in 2020 and there are issues that directly affect women in general and the affordable housing industry that we as WHFA- PA members serve. We have an obligation to ourselves and our industry to advocate and support those who are marginalized and disenfranchised. By using our voices to vote for candidates that support programs that help enhance the lives of the people we serve, we use our power to make a difference.
As we close the month of August, we recognize the 100th anniversary of our right to vote but we also continue to work to achieve our mission as WHF-PA members by promoting and supporting the professional growth of women in housing, finance and development, particularly in the area of affordable housing and community development, by providing various forums and networking opportunities through which members connect and share knowledge and experience.
