Mary M. Johannesen, AIA, LEED AP of Kitchen & Associates is pleased to have been part of the design team for Wynne Senior Residences in Philadelphia and Sacred Heart Senior Residences in Allentown, both developed by Pennrose Properties, LLC. Both new affordable senior residences recently celebrated their grand-openings.  These new LIHTC apartment buildings were designed and pre-certified to meet Passive House standards, and constructed to be highly energy efficient.  Not only do the senior residents have modern apartments with affordable rents and low utility bills, each building also includes generous common amenities for social, recreational and supportive programs, plus first floor space that is allocated for health and wellness services.  Sacred Heart Senior Residences was recently honored with Best Project of 2017 by the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council.

Other WHF-PA members involved in these projects include Jaquelin Camp, AIA, CPHD, of WRT who served as the Passive House Consultant on both projects, and Toki Rehder and Lindsey Samsi Associate Developers at Pennrose Properties, LLC.
